A report commissioned by the Book Industry Strategy Group has made a list of recommendations to aid Australias struggling book industry.

Colorpak, Australias number one carton folding business, has announced staff layoffs as it plans to close its old Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) Reservoir Plant. The staff redundancies follow its $5 million acquisition of CHH in March of this year.

CEO of The Printing Industries Association of Australia Bill Healey believes the industry already operates under challenging conditions and the new carbon tax will further increase costs and uncertainty for printing companies across Australia.

The Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) is holding a one-day symposium on how social networking and fibre-optics have changed the face of businesses. The symposium will be held at BMW Edge in Melbourne and will run from 8 am until 6 pm. Printing companies in the nearby suburb of Springvale will be interested in learning how to get the best out of their marketing strategies.
